Carers Visit to Windsor Castle

Slough Carers Support, as part of our Thriving Communities Project and courtesy of The Royal Collection Trust, treated 50 unpaid carers to a trip to Windsor Castle on Valentine’s Day. Everyone was delighted to see the royal gallery and treasures.

“Initially I heard about the trip through an email I received from Slough Carers Support. I took my mother with me on this trip, for whom I care for. The trip enabled some relaxing time for me.”

Vikram Hitkari, Carer

“My son loves going out, he particularly likes visiting gardens and historic properties. Being offered this opportunity and a little respite from our usual home environment was a god send, especially when we have been housebound because of Covid. Thank you Slough Carers Support, your staff were so accommodating and made sure we didn’t get lost! It was wheelchair accessible, and they even offered us a buggy to go round which was so kind. Trips like these make us feel valued and recognised that we are important people and deserve a little gift and free time!”

“Thank you so much for today. I was a bit anxious at first because of my illness and anxiety, but Kinder made me feel so at ease and the other carers were such lovely company! The Slough Carers trips have been fantastic. It has given me some time to myself and a break away from the same routine. It is lovely to have a change of scenery.”

Vandhan Thakkar, Carer

“I found it really good to finally go out, my daughter enjoyed it too. It was nice pushing myself to meet others face-to-face. I haven’t enjoyed something like this for long time.”

Ravinder, Cared For

“It was like a school trip, it was fun and was nice to get out of the house and meet others.”
