Carers asked…we delivered….
Training for Carers In partnership with Right at Home, and Get Active Slough on 7 September 2016 SPACE held a medication training workshop specifically aimed at carers.
The training was attended by 10 people and was a mix of carers and their cared for. Feedback on the session was really positive 8 out of the 10 attendees completed the evaluation forms and all felt that the objectives of the training were clearly defined
1 attendee felt that topic was not relevant to her BUT felt that she wanted to attend the session as she felt that if attendance was low other events may not be held.
All 8 attendees who completed the form felt that the topics covered were relevant and that the trainer was well prepared
7 out of the eight felt that their course objectives were met
All 8 agreed that the the course was well organised and easy to follow, that the trainer was knowledgeable on the subject, that the length of the course was sufficient and that the meeting room and facilities were adequate and comfortable.
When asked what attendees liked most about the training the responses were – “the trainer was knowledgeable and friendly” “ I learnt a lot”
When asked what other training courses or events would be useful one person requested training on How to Support Children with Autism and another attendee expressed an interest in the next training event scheduled for the October 2016 – Safe Guarding Training for Carers.
Following the training Get Active Slough provided a 45 min walk, however only 1 attendee wanted to participate in the walk, so the route was changed to a route that suited her and was on her way home.
The training was advertising in local town centre premises, the Carers Centre as well as being distributed to all SPACE associates. Every carer on the Carers Register received a flyer either via email or though the post.
